Labor Day Parade
Omaha Area Local to march - all members, friends, and family encouraged to join!
On Monday, September 6, 2021, the Omaha Area Local will be marching in the annual Labor Day parade. We will be proudly displaying the Omaha Area Local banner throughout the parade.
The Omaha Area Local will be wearing the 2021 APWU 50th Anniversary t-shirts. There will be shirts available for members who have not received a t-shirt and for family attendees while supplies last.
There will only be one team for the parade. The parade WILL NOT feature helium balloons this year.
Parade team: The Omaha Area Local will be marching and proudly display our banner. We will have candy to hand out to the crowd. Parade team members will meet on the Northeast corner of 17th street and Mike Fahey at 9 a.m.
What to wear: Wear your NEW 2021 APWU Union t-shirts. The Union will be providing these t-shirts free to all participants.
What to bring: Wagons, dogs, pull behind coolers - most anything you would want to march with is ok.
There are 75 unions and participants marching in the parade. The Septemberfest Labor Day Parade Assembly Area map shows where all 75 participants line up. There will be plenty of parade marshals to assist in finding our spot.
The 75 unions and participants march, starting with #1 and ending with #75.
The Omaha Area Local is #13 in the parade order.
We will march from 17th and Mike Fahey to 10th and Mike Fahey [approximately 1 mile].
Event Tent: The parade ends at 10th and Mike Fahey and we will march right into the tent where participants can enjoy free hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, and pop. Beer will cost $3. The Omaha Area Local will hand out wristbands to those participating - one wristband will get an entire family into the post-parade picnic until 1:30 pm.
