2024 SPECIAL ELECTION NOTICE
FOR DELEGATES TO THE 2024 APWU NATIONAL CONVENTION
JULY 12 TO JULY 18, DETROIT MI
The Omaha Area Local Executive Board has approved the motion to have a Special Election to send Omaha delegates to the 2024 APWU National Convention, which takes place in Detroit, MI from July 12 to July 18, 2024.
July 12: Pre-Convention Workshops
July 13-14: Division Conferences
July 15-18: Convention Business
THE VOTE TO APPROVE THE SPECIAL ELECTION WILL BE HELD AT THE MAY 14, 2024, GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING.
IF APPROVED:
FLOOR NOMINATIONS WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE MAY GENERAL MEMBERSHIP WHICH WILL BE HELD ON MAY 14, 2024, AT 4:15 PM AT THE UNION OFFICE, 256 N 115th STREET, SUITE #7, OMAHA, NE 68154.
THE VOTE FOR DELEGATES WILL BE TAKEN AT THE MEETING.
Delegate status is open for the election of members in good standing for at least 6 months.
Floor Nominations: Nominations for the 2024 APWU National Convention will be made at the May 14, 2024, General Membership Meeting. Candidates present at the May 14, 2024, meeting are considered as accepting their nomination.
The Election Committee will notify members in good standing who are nominated by others for election as a National Convention delegate within 24 hours of nomination via priority mail providing such candidates notice of the convention for which they have been nominated and the requirement to provide an email or written notice to the Election Committee that they accept such nominations in writing within three (3) days of notification. The written acceptance can be sent via email or mail.
Written and email nominations: These letters or emails must be mailed to the Election Committee, 256 N 115th Street, Suite 7, Omaha NE 68154 or emailed to electioncommitteeoal@gmail.com. All written nominations in possession of the Election Committee no later than 2 pm on May 14, 2024.
Nominations from the floor during which the candidate is present and timely written nomination acceptances will be irrevocable, except for reasons that would render such candidates ineligible for elected office.
NOTE: HEARING-IMPAIRED MEMBERS PLANNING ON ATTENDING THIS MEETING ARE DIRECTED TO NOTIFY THE UNION OFFICE WITH SUFFICIENT NOTICE TO ARRANGE FOR AN INTERPRETER.
